Tour of Merchant Taylors’ Hall Thursday 21st April

By 22/04/2022Members Only

It is nice to be able to report on an Ashdown Probus Club planned event which actually took place yesterday. Eleven members and partners took a trip up to London and enjoyed an interesting and informative tour of the Merchant Taylors’ Livery Hall in the City of London with lunch at the Old Dr Butler’s Head pub afterwards.

We were shown round the livery hall which dates from the fourteenth century (give or take a few fires and WWII bomb damage) by the Beagle with some of us even venturing deep into the crypt below Threedneedle Street.

A pleasant walk back to London Bridge station after lunch was enhanced by the sight of Tower Bridge opening especially for us!

The next planned London trip is on Tuesday 17th May when we’ll venture to the northern outskirts of the City of London to visit The Charterhouse. Please click here for further information and a booking form.
