The Club’s annual Barbeque took place on Monday 27th June at Barnsgate Manor, with over 50 members and their partners taking part.
After her recent after-lunch presentation to Ashdown Probus Shelagh Black writes << This being my first foray into public speaking I was a little nervous when I presented my talk ‘Behind closed doors in the Microbiology Laboratory’ but delighted to talk about a subject and career which I absolutely loved. The talk was well received with lots of questions afterwards and many said how much they had enjoyed the subject matter.
Our son has now asked me to talk to his 6th form students about careers available in Pathology which will be a different challenge!

After a splendid lunch at Ye Olde Watling Pub on Monday members of Ashdown Probus Club and their Partners felt sufficiently fortified for an official visit to Skinners’ Hall in Dowgate Hill.
On Saturday evening a murder was committed at the 19th hole that Agatha Christie would have been proud of. Fortunately members of both Ashdown Probus and Crowborough Golf Club were on hand to assist the police with their enquiries.
