Our Ashdown Probus Club, after a five year interval, returned to the Hydro Hotel, Eastbourne, on Wednesday 27th March 2024 for the President’s Lunch.
A sunny morning – making a pre-Lunch promenade possible – was followed later by characteristic 2024 weather: a rainy afternoon and almost gale force winds! But within the Hydro: a stylish hotel – we enjoyed a warm and comfortable environment.
The President’s Lunch is an Annual event, which on this occasion was held both to celebrate Michael Sander’s year as President, and also to welcome our incoming President, Phil Watson, who will take up his office on Monday 8 April 2024.
The event was well supported, and was attended by 51 people including members, wives/partners and guests. After a pre-lunch drinks reception, and a truly excellent three course meal, the coffee was served, followed by the President’s and the Vice-President’s speeches.
Michael Sander, President 2023-24 gave an account of his year in office, thanked those who through their office had made special contributions (Dave Adams, Peter Barker, John Hunt, Ray Jackson, Phil Parker, David & Sue Homewood, Peter Billcliff, Andrew Fermor, and VP Phil Watson). He then welcomed the incoming President who will take up his office immediately following the Club AGM.
Phil Watson, Vice President thanked the President for his hard work, and for dealing so effectively with the range of challenging issues that arose in his presidential year.
A enjoyable day out with friends, good to be back at the Hydro Hotel.
