On Wednesday 15th September 17 members and partners enjoyed Ashdown Probus’s first outing since early 2020 with an interesting guided tour of Bluebell Wine Estate, near Sheffield Park. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learnt about various vine management, wine making and bottling processes. Then came the part of the tour everyone was waiting for – the tasting session. In all we tasted five estate produced wines, two still whites and three English sparkling wines (Shhh! we’re not allowed to call them Champagne!). Afterwards we moved on the The Crown, Horsted Keynes for a most sociable and enjoyable lunch. If members are more prepared now to venture out your committee will research and plan further events. Next up could be a return to the Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells for this autumn’s TWODS production (late November). Please check back on this website for updates.
