This year’s Ashdown Probus Christmas Lunch was held at the High Rocks restaurant, near Tunbridge Wells. It was a new and different venue for us and provided a warm and comfortable seasonal ambience for this very special occasion.
With the COViD pandemic, unfortunately last year’s Christmas celebration had to be cancelled. So, an unprecedented period of two years had elapsed before we could all get together and meet old friends. There was a lot of catching-up to do.
We initially assembled in the Great Hall Barn for pre-lunch drinks. The Great Hall Barn is an architecturally stunning oak framed barn and with festive music playing in the background provided a superb Christmassy atmosphere.
Lunch was served in the President’s Suite and sixty-nine members and partners sat down for a delicious and traditional Christmas lunch followed by coffee and mints, with wine provided during the meal. The food was very good quality and the service was exceptional. There was the usual raffle with prizes being spirits, wine and chocolates, along with a small gift for the ladies.
During the early discussions with High Rocks they clearly stated that their aim is to provide good quality traditional dishes in a comfortable and welcoming surroundings, and also provide excellent value.
They more than achieved their objectives and a good afternoon was had by all.
