Autumn golf meeting

The COVID lockdown led to us cancelling the Selsdon Park golf outing this Autumn, but with the gradual relaxing of restrictions, we have received a number of requests to organise a replacement outing for this September. We have reserved 7 double occupancy rooms with bed, breakfast and dinner for the nights of Sunday 26th, and Monday 27th September plus three rounds of golf. This means there may be places available for members who would like to play but have not yet put their names down for any of the society’s golf events.
Annual Summer Picnic

Tuesday 24th August 2021
It’s time once more for the annual Summer Picnic and this year we are one again privileged to be able to use David and Susan Homewood’s beautiful garden at Birchden, Eridge Road, Groombridge, TN3 9NH for this event.
Being the Club’s first organised social event after the lifting of covid restrictions here’s hoping we can all enjoy fine weather and good company at this annual Summer event.
Ashdown Probus Croquet

We had our second Croquet session of the season this morning and it was well attended.
Probus croquet 2021

Tuesday 4th May… We had a good Croquet morning. We were to have 11 players but in the outcome, because of medical appointments and a fence having blown down in the strong winds, we were down to eight players! – ideal for games of doubles – and the swapping of partners in pairs later in the morning. The quality of play was maintained despite the high winds! Our next session is scheduled for Tuesday 8th June. Please contact Michael Sander if you are interested.
President’s lunch rescheduled till 2022

Unfortunately, and after much deliberation, we have decided to cancel the President’s lunch which was scheduled to be held on 7th July 2021.
Ashdown Probus Croquet 2021

The Royal Tunbridge Wells Croquet Club re-opened its lawns to its members on 29 March 2021, subject to compliance with the Croquet Association’s Covid Rules.
We have since negotiated, and the lawns will be available for use by Ashdown Probus Members and their partners, on dates each month from May to September 2021 as follows:
Tues May 4th: Tues June 8th: Tues July 6th: Tues Aug 10th: Tues Sept 7th
All from 10.00 am till 12.30 / 1.00 pm.
Easter Greetings

To All Members and Families of Ashdown Probus Club
Wishing you a Happy Easter.
With our Best Wishes from your Committee

PS Don’t forget to return your AGM ballot papers by Monday 12th April 2021.
AGM 2021

The end of another Probus year is almost upon us and the AGM is due in April. The first Monday is the 5th, Easter Monday, so the date for the AGM lunch would have been moved to April 12th but unfortunately due to ongoing covid-19 regulations we are obviously unable to meet on that date. We are therefore proposing to hold a virtual AGM like last year when we broadcast an electronic ballot paper for members to cast their votes.
March 2021

March 2021
It is a year now since our lives were radically changed; we learned to live a new life style and during the fine days of summer with one or two false starts, for meeting family and eating out, we adjusted to the “new normal” but the dark days and “lockdown” of winter have tested our patience and resolve.
Terry Hubble

Terry Hubble, a gentleman, friend and long standing Probus member. I have today been informed that Terry passed away on the evening of 13th January.
Our thoughts and condolences are with his wife Wenda and the rest of the family.
Information on the funeral will be given when arrangements are made.
David Scaife,
President
