September luncheon
After a good turnout for our first lunch earlier this month after COVID restrictions were lifted arrangements for the September event on Monday 13th September have now been finalised.
Bryn Hodson RIP
We have been advised by Bryn’s family that the time of his funeral at St. John’s Church, Crowborough, TN6 1RZ has been brought forward to 2.15 p.m. on Thursday 26th August 2021.
Please take note of this change if you are planning to attend the church service. The venue for the wake remains as advised before – Crowborough Beacon Golf Club following the church service.
August luncheon
37 Full members attended and enjoyed our first gathering for lunch at the golf club for 18 months.
Bryn Hodson
It is with great sadness that I have to advise that Bryn Hodson, Ashdown Probus President in 2017-18 passed away peacefully at home around midnight on Friday 6th August.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Olive and the rest of the family at this time.
Details of funeral arrangements will be advised as and when known.

Bluebell vineyard
This event was previously booked for Grape harvest time in 2019 and on advice from the vineyard we have re-booked this outing for Wednesday 15th September this year at 11.00 a.m. The RSVP function and event flyer download are available at the bottom of the outing webpage and you may advise attendance electronically or please use the flyer’s tear off slip to book your place(s). As we are all still wary of the need for caution during the ongoing covid problems it is pleasing to note that the outing is mainly in the fresh air with an open sided marquee used for the wine tasting session. Places are limited so we would appreciate knowing your intention to attend by the deadline Friday 13th August 2021.

Gentlemen, A reminder that Ashdown Probus’s first luncheon since February last year will be held at Crowborough Beacon Golf Club on Monday 9th August 2021, 12.00 noon for 12.30 pm sit down.
I look forward to seeing as many members as possible at this luncheon.

Monthly luncheons
Monday 9th August 2021 – As the most stringent government covid restrictions have been lifted and life starts to return to normality your committee has taken the decision to schedule the club’s first luncheon meeting since February last year. We appreciate that many members may still be dubious about venturing out and mixing but we believe that members’ personal awareness together with sensible covid precautions remaining in place at the golf club mean that it is safe to go ahead with this event.
Autumn golf meeting
The COVID lockdown led to us cancelling the Selsdon Park golf outing this Autumn, but with the gradual relaxing of restrictions, we have received a number of requests to organise a replacement outing for this September. We have reserved 7 double occupancy rooms with bed, breakfast and dinner for the nights of Sunday 26th, and Monday 27th September plus three rounds of golf. This means there may be places available for members who would like to play but have not yet put their names down for any of the society’s golf events.
