May 2026: Tour of Salters’ Hall and a City pub lunch
On Thursday 28th May, one of the hottest days of the year, a group of Probus members and partners took the train to London and enjoyed a tour of another of the Great twelve Livery companies of the City of London – the Salters’ Company, ranked number nine in the order of precedence. Salters’ Hall is however very different from the livery halls we have visited so far. Rather than a medieval building it is a bold post-war design by Sir Basil Spence completed in 1976 and Grade II-listed in 2010.
