Lunches
Except for the annual President’s lunch (March or April each year) and the Club’s formal Christmas lunch (December), Ashdown Probus holds a single monthly luncheon on the second Monday of the month. This is held at Crowborough Beacon Golf Club, Beacon Road, Crowborough, TN6 1UJ, where members gather in the bar at 12.00 noon for a 12.30 p.m. two course meal and coffee, followed by a guest speaker or other group activity.
Menus
Monthly luncheon menus are posted on the Calendar of events pages in the Members area of this website. A range of menus has been agreed with the Golf Club chef and we endeavour to publish these well in advance.
If a member or guest has allergy worries or prefers a different meal to that advertised this can usually be accommodated by contacting the Functions manager of the golf club direct.
An e-mail address and phone number is listed on each monthly luncheon page.
Raffle
There is an inexpensive Raffle at all monthly luncheons with whisky, wine and boxes of chocolates as prizes.
Guest speakers
Our guest speaker programme is a key feature of the Ashdown Probus Club, providing eight presentations per year on a wide variety of topics. These sessions last about thirty minutes with ten or so minutes allowed for questions from the floor. Recent subjects have included “The Bluebell Railway”, “The disgraceful sons of George III” and “RSPB Broadwater Warren”. We are most grateful to those many speakers who give of their time. 2025 speakers include…
January: Dr Janet Pennington – English Inn signs; Their local and regional significance
February: David Barry – Actors Behaving Badly
March: President’s lunch
April: Annual General Meeting
May: t.b.a.
All monthly luncheon menus and details of guest speakers are posted in the Calendar of events pages in the Members area of this website.
Attendance at monthly luncheons
